McLaren Special Operations has crafted 10 unique MSO X sports cars that mirror the look and feel of a McLaren 570s GT4 race car–but for the road. The rare vehicles were demanded by the U.S. market’s largest McLaren retailer, McLaren Newport Beach, and have been transported to owners at a special McLaren customer event near Las Vegas.
Car aficionados will love the look and feel of the MSO X sports car. Resembling the external appearance of the McLaren 570s GT4 race car, the MSO X car is influenced by McLaren F1 GTR endurance cars of the mid-90s. A fully operational gooseneck carbon fibre roof snorkel for magnifying induction airflow, influenced by the 1997 F1 GTR long-tail, additionally delivers a unique cockpit sound. The transformation is finished by the inclusion of the front dive planes, an MSO Titanium Super Sports Exhaust, Pirelli P Zero CORSA tires and a 570S GT4- style hood with specially constructed air intakes that work jointly with the roof snorkel and rear wing as complete MSO aerodynamic package.
The weight is lessened thanks to the considerable use of a satin finish carbon fibre across the entire bodywork, including roof, bonnet, side skirts and engine cover, as well as a special rear bumper with cut outs. The MSO X Cars are equipped with parking sensors, rear view cameras, vehicle lift and race air conditioning.
The track focused, minimalist design of the interior of each MSO X car is different to any other McLaren Sports Series road car. The carbon fibre Monocell 2 chassis is intentionally exposed, complementing carbon fibre bulkhead features stowage space for a race helmet. The center tunnel storage has been removed to conserve weight and the raised, carbon fibre center console that features in the 570S GT4 further heightens the racing intent. The vehicles are also equipped with a color matched control bar to hold the 6 point racing harnesses for track diving and McLaren with a full suite of cameras.
