The Thompson Chicago and Big Game Air, a luxury travel service, are combining private jet service, major sporting events and the trappings of a luxury vacation to redefine what it means to go “out to the ball game.”

The weekend-long packages include a pre-departure stay at the Thompson Chicago, a deluxe Penthouse tailgating reception, private transportation stocked with food and beverage and premium seating and VIP service at events. Current scheduled destinations include the Kentucky Derby and the Big Ten Championship, but Thompson and Big Game Air are looking to expand to the PGA Tour and March Madness games as well. Additionally, guests can customize their trips by picking out destinations from the specially curated Holiday Catalogue: the perfect gift or dose of self-indulgence during the holiday season.

However, these two Chicago-based companies are not only concerned with the short-term goal of coordinating memorable excursions. They are also looking to leave their mark on the industry.

“Today’s luxury hospitality market practically begs for us, as hoteliers, to rethink the formula for exceeding guests’ expectations—and we love this challenge,” says Thompson Chicago General Manager Steve Shern. “Travelers want more than just exclusive experiences; they are seeking personal fulfillment. We achieve this by infusing each property with relevant programming and dedicating time to securing partnerships that will create meaningful, memorable experiences for our guests. Our new collaboration with Big Game Air is the perfect example of this.”

Similarly, Big Game Air’s founders, entrepreneurs Arturo Gomez and Todd Rubin, are dedicated to coming up with more innovative ways to merge the worlds of sports and travel. “Big Game Air is addressing the increasing demand for engaging and unique sports experiences, by bringing the convenience and luxury of private aviation to the center of ultimate travel experiences,” says Arturo Gomez. Their partnership with the Thompson Chicago is the perfect way for them to do so, since 60 percent of Big Game Air’s clientele are based in the Chicagoland area. Working together, the two companies have been able to put together luxurious packages with discounted prices that tap into the best amenities that Chicago and the destination sites have to offer. From “The Big Ten Championship: Down and Back” which includes a tailgate basked catered by Thompson Hotel’s Nico Osteria to the “Pony Express: Day at the Derby” which gives guests access to the the VIP Social Hour at the elite equestrian event, these two companies are truly revolutionizing the world of luxury travel, one sporting event at a time.
