Located on the shores of Mexico’s Lake Alvándaro is Valle de Bravo, a vacation destination off the beaten path from other popular Mexican getaways. Combining traditional and colonial style, the city of Valle de Bravo offers travelers majestic lakes, mountains, fine dining, art and more. Now, guests have a trendy boutique hotel to match their sense of adventure.
Travelers can find solace at the boutique hotel, La Casa Rodavento, an artfully constructed boutique hotel launched by the California-based Mosaic Hotel Group, the second in trio of buildings that the brand will opening this year.
La Casa Rodavento, two-and-a-half hours from the capital city, opened in December as a perfect escape for guests looking to explore the local culture. The hotel boasts seven luxury suites centered around a country yard equipped with a private swimming pool, bubbling pool and jacuzzi, fire pits and gardens. Each suite offers a unique layout from a two-story abode to the sprawling Siete suite, which opens to a spacious terrace, perfect for dining outside or enjoying in-room massages.
The décor of each suite feels homey and comfortable, but also has unique features like floor-to-ceiling colonial-style windows and exposed beams with fashionable Mexican art and industrial black steel staircases. The marbled bathrooms come complete with a freestanding tub and an outdoor shower.
When guests get hungry, they can head over to the hotel’s restaurant, Nuestro, headed by chef Diego Isunza Khalo. This exemplary chef has crafted a menu with hyper seasonal and locally sourced dishes. Think: fresh-caught salmon, over 250 types of corn and meat dishes.
If you’re looking for an adventurous activity to understand the region more, take a chef-led cooking glass, indulge in a wine tasting, live music or art exhibitions. Lake Alvándaro is open for swimming, paddling or sailing and the pine forest is perfect for mountain biking an rock climbing.
