Hublot is no stranger to limited-edition timepieces, and on Monday, November 6, the Swiss luxury watch company debuted their latest in conjunction with Geneva Seal in Chicago–and it’s one of the most meaningful yet.

The Classic Fusion Alef bet watch was launched with ongoing partner Geneva Seal and was designed to honor Geneva Seal owner Alex Kats’s heritage. Kats wanted to give back to the community through a local charity and selected the Holocaust Museum and Education Center of Illinois as a recipient. Co-designed by Kats, the Classic Fusion Alef bet watches are sold exclusively at Geneva Seal and are limited to only 36 pieces, a symbolic number in Jewish culture, meaning life or living in Hebrew.

The event was hosted by Managing Director of Hublot of America, Jean-François Sberro, who also presented the watch at the boutique.

“Geneva Seal has been a wonderful partner to Hublot in Chicago, and we are very excited to have the opportunity to launch the Classic Fusion Alef bet that is unique to their store,” says Sberro. “The piece celebrates Alex Kats’s heritage and provides him the opportunity to make a small difference to a charity for which he is so passionate.

ChicagoMOD spoke exclusively with  Sberro on the importance of this piece in Hublot’s portfolio.

“It’s very rare when we change indexes, so the fact we have Hebrew letters around the watch makes it very special,” he says. “That is something you rarely, rarely see, and I like that Alex wanted to pay tribute to his own heritage like that. I know he’s close to the Jewish community of Chicago, and I like that he brought a charity into the project, and that we are able to do a big donation for the museum.”

As for Sberro’s favorite aspects of the limited-edition timepiece? “First, I like the [Classic Fusion] style, which is one of my favorite models,” he says. “It’s a very thin watch, very low-key and subtle. I like blue very much. Then I like the customization with the Hebrew letters.”

Just as sleek as it is meaningful, the Classic Fusion Alef bet is a testament to Hublot’s renowned quality and authenticity. Its satin-finished case is made with polished titanium, and a blue alligator band with blue stitching makes this piece stand out. The piece remains a simple, yet sophisticated statement similar to the other Classic Fusion watches in Hublot’s portfolio.
