The long-awaited DB11 Volante from Aston Martin is here, and it’s safe to say this is one of the best yet.
With a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged 510PS V8 engine, the DB11 sets brilliant new standards for performance, innovation, engineering and style. The return of the ultimate convertible Sports GT joins the DB11 Coupe, which launched with a bang last year. Similar to the Coupe, the Volante is built around a bonded aluminum structure for a lighter and more rigid look and feel than the original model. The gorgeous convertible allows drivers and bystanders to peer into the expertly crafted interior with ample room and attention to details.
The car features a striking single-piece aluminum bonnet and innovative ‘Curliecue’ aerodynamic feature combined with new wood or carbon fibre veneer panels on the seat backs and a tailored fabric hood. Not to miss are the ultra-slim ‘light blade’ tail lights that create a bold C graphic, which only add to the futuristic design of the vehicle. The eight-layer convertible roof takes 14 seconds to lower and 16 to close and is operated remotely or from the key.
Yet, its sporty feel and increased performance levels do nothing to hinder the sleek style, comfort and refinement of its interior. In addition to the 8-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission and electric power steering, the driver can configure the car’s responses and tailor them to weather conditions or mood. To enhance driving pleasure, a heated steering wheel and rear seat ISOFIX attachment points add points of comfort for drivers and passengers.
Aston Martin will make the DB11 Volante available by early 2018 starting at around $216,495. astonmartin.com/en
