    HIS:

This fall, double-breasted overcoats were omnipresent on the runways of New York, Milan and Paris, and for good reason: this men’s wardrobe staple gives a nod to ‘80s Wall Street power-dressing while reinterpreting the look for 2017. Slouchy silhouettes have been replaced by tight tailoring in crushed velvets and double-faced cashmeres lending a modern touch.

    BOTTEGA VENETA

A nipped-in waist, dramatic spread lapel and shorter length give this double-breasted coat a modern feel that works from day to night over suits as well as into the weekend over jeans. Form and function come together for the urban-dweller fashionista. Available at Bottega Veneta, 800 N. Michigan Avenue, $6,900

    GIORGIO ARMANI

A finely tailored double-breasted jacket in velvet adds loads of luxury when juxtaposed against a draped trouser. Subtle patterns make this look less corporate and more like a fashion statement, perfect for dressing up or down this season. Available at Giorgio Armani, 25 E. Oak Street, $3,195

TOM FORD DOUBLE-BREASTED BOUCLE CHECK COAT

A classic double-breasted overcoat is always in style. This season, Tom Ford’s dark-grey version hits all the right notes with the right proportions, uber-luxe finishes and a debonaire silhouette. Available at Tom Ford, 66 E. Oak Street, $8,250

    MICHAEL KORS

Olive drab is anything but drab in color and design. With its form-fitting belt and nod to ‘40s military overcoats, this new iteration is uber-masculine and deserves a front-of-the line spot in your fall fashion lineup. An officer and a gentleman, to be sure. Available at Neiman Marcus, 737 N. Michigan Avenue, price available upon request

    HER:

Nothing says luxe in the fall like sumptuous velvet. This season, you’ll find it everywhere from ready-to-wear to shoes to bags — and even in the bedroom. This fabric will make everyone want to reach out and touch!

    MAX MARA JACKET, PANTS

Mix up regular suiting by choosing one in all velvet. This Max Mara ensemble gives off uber-chic vibes reminiscent of Bianca Jagger in the ‘70s. Shake up your 9-to-5 with a more feminine answer to pantsuits with soft velvet and a sculpted silhouette. Pair with a silk cami underneath to go from office to nighttime. Available at Max Mara, 900 N. Michigan Avenue, jacket $1,250, pants $595

    CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN MOULAMAX

Velvet booties exude an air of Renaissance luxe. Mix in orals and you have a statement shoe for the fall that everyone will covet! More versatile than you realize, this shoe goes with everything from dresses to skirts to denim. Available at Christian Louboutin, 58 E. Oak Street, $1,095

LA PERLA HAMPTON COURT BLACK CORSET DRESS

Velvet in the boudoir? Who says you can’t! Velvet mixed with lace is the pinnacle of class and sass in the bedroom. This form-fitting silhouette pairs velvet with lace with a corset-style bustier, adorned with uber-feminine oral motifs throughout. The temperature may be dropping, but the heat is on high at home. Available at La Perla, 34 E. Oak Street, $2,665

GUCCI GG MARMONT EMBROIDERED VELVET MINI BAG

A velvet bag gives that extra layer of luxe to any fall outfit. Think of it as a piece of jewelry on your shoulder! Adding embellishments makes it only that much more desirable. Bags in rich plum tones that are soft to the touch and adorned with whimsical crystals epitomize everything that is good about this trend. Available at Gucci, 900 N. Michigan Avenue, $3,300
