Forget what you know about Mexico. Puebla, located just 85 miles southeast of Mexico City, has quickly become one of the most desired travel destinations in Mexico. Framed by the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes, the historic town recently welcomed its second five-star luxury hotel, the Cartesiano Hotel, and it’s nothing short of spectacular. Located steps from the town’s UNESCO World Heritage designated city center, the Cartesiano is situated between two historical mansions: the 16th-century Casa De Los Dos Patios and Los Arcos mansion.

The past and the present come together in this unique property, which features local furnishings such as Talavera pottery and original stone walls. The hotel features 78 rooms and suites, making this a boutique hotel bristling with charm and elegance. At the end of the day, guests can relax in their rooms’ contemporary settings and lush refreshing rain showers.

The property features a bar, lounge and two restaurants. Centena Cuatro is an all-day, fine dining cafe that includes a stunning terrace and menu items like mole poblano. Cafe Hercilia is a more causal option, which serves up courtyard dining. And as for the spa? It’s comprised of four relaxing cabins and features treatments that use Naturopathic products. And to make the guest’s experience even more relaxing, a swanky library provides cocktails, while the rooftop pool and deck offers stunning views of the village’s historic church domes.
