The World Superyacht Awards sees the best of the best in yachting each year. The show, compared to the Academy Awards of boats, saw this year as particularly spectacular. The world’s most renowned motor yacht manufacturers came together to celebrate these mega-masterpieces at the 12th annual presentation in Florence, Italy on May 13 at the Palazzo Vecchio.
The crème-de-la-crème of the awards ceremony is no doubt the Yachting Awards’ “Motor Yacht of the Year Award,” which recognizes the best motor yacht from the year prior, in this case, 2016. A panel of judges chooses the yacht from all of the award winners in the motor yacht categories. This year, fifteen of the world’s best super yachts were selected for 17 awards from 60 nominees.
This year, Lürssen’s superyacht Dilbar (156m) was named Motor Yacht of the Year 2017–a huge honor and a well-deserved award. The judges were particularly enamored with the Dilbar’s outstanding design. “One of the most complex and challenging yachts to be built,” the judges said. They described her as “the most spectacular yacht they had ever seen and a clear winner for this prestigious award.”
Dilbar, built in 2016, was one of two boats to win two awards each, with the other being Sailing Yacht Sybaris. Dilbar, from German yacht-builder Lürssen, is 156m long with a beam of 23.5m and a speed of up to 22.5kn. The interior designer was Winch Design and the exterior designer was Espen Oeino International.
Dilbar features generous teak decks to include an outdoor bar and plenty of space for lounging. What else? She has a gym, jacuzzi, elevator, helicopter landing pad, swimming pool, tender garage, air conditioning, spa and sauna, movie theatre, swimming platform, underwater lights and a massage room. It’s not available for private charter.
Congrats Lürssen Yachts for Dilbar’s success!
